gear, detail up a cockpit and any other extra details depending on aircraft
being modelled.
The model will be painted in the scheme of full size flying out of Omaka, I
was fortunate enough to catch up with owners rep and pilot at Warbirds over
Wanaka earlier this year and with those contacts in place we should be able
to get colours and any other details particular to that machine pretty right.
That said as that aircraft wears a wartime scheme, I have a bit of poetic
licence up my sleeve to add a bit of wartime patina as opposed to the ‘factory
fresh” look it had when first assembled here in NZ.
My partner in crime on these projects is ensuring we can add a good
representation of scale working exhaust 3D printed in stainless to our spec
along with a scale fan behind the prop.
The prop itself has been another little journey of discovery in its own right
finally settling on a one piece laminated beech prop from Mario Siedel,
Mario produces both full size and model props of a quality and scale
attention to detail that is second to none.
I strive to put aircraft together that not only look the part but are more than
skin deep with a considerable amount of energy being spent on producing a 3D printed stainless steel stack!!
strong safe and reliable aircraft that can perform and be operated in a scale
manner.
Models airframe is now largely complete with emphasis now shifting to gear,
engine /exhaust, retracts, each little engineering projects in their own right
but definitely at the business end of the project and can’t wait to detail and
paint!
