16The North Shore Model Aero Club Control Line facilities have recently been improved by the installation of a smart new 2-metre radius concrete centre circle. This feature will greatly improve the safety and performance of all classes of flying. The smooth level surface also provides greater accessibility and stability, for members with limited mobility flying from rotating chairs.Plans have been in the pipeline for this project for several years. The green light was given in March 2025 when approval was provided by the landowner, Auckland Council.Model Flying New Zealand generously made a financial grant available, to contribute towards the cost of this project. This is very much appreciated by the North Shore Model Aero Club, as well as the wider New Zealand Control Line community.NORTH SHOREModel Aero ClubNEW CONTROL LINE FACILITIESRichard Fallas and Dave Wilkins building the boxingStep One of the Project , Applying weedkiller to the siteChris ChambersRichard Fallas, who made a huge contribution to this project, had the honour of the maiden flight in the new circle.
