ASFC F3A WORLD CUP
for Aerobatic Modelling
Jian De, CHINA
May 7th - 11th, 2025 AERO SPORTS FEDERATION OF CHINA
Returning home after another incredible experience at
the 2025 ASFC F3A World Cup in China held at the
Qiandao Lake General Airport in Jian De, the event was,
once again, superbly organized by the ASFC and Yang
Yong, delivering a high measure in both planning and
execution.
It was an honour to be asked, again, to Judge at the
event. From the onset, competition was high. Being start
line ready at 7.30am and the long days under the sun with PVG Shanghai airport . model boxes.
hazy skies, was draining. Staying focused became
crucial to judge the high technical skill of the competitors.
Aptitude and mental awareness were pushed to the limit
judging 47 flights a day for the Preliminary rounds.
There were 28 International competitors, who were all
flying to a very high standard. Styles, presentation,
accuracy, and distance varied among the pilots.
From the onset of arrival at Pudong Airport in Shanghai,
the organization of the event prevailed. The international
pilots, judges, helpers and supporters gathered and were
met by Elaine who then escorted everyone to a bus
where we loaded all the luggage and left the model boxes
to be transported on a truck to Jian De. Once everything
and everyone were on the bus, we hit the road and our
journey began.
Judges.
It was a four-hour drive, on the ‘beep-beep’ bus that had a
100km/hr alarm. It was after 8pm by the time we arrived in
Jian De so we were escorted directly to dinner. It was nice
to catch up again with all the pilots, helpers, and
organizers.
After dinner, we were all taken by ‘golf buggies’ to the
accommodation to check in. The golf buggies were our
shuttles to take you anywhere around the resort and to
the buses, for the duration of our stay. Our rooms were
very nice, even with a balcony. And an electric toilet .
The airport flying site was about 5 minutes’ drive in the
bus away from the resort.
On Day 1 of the event, the pilots went to the hangar to
unpack their boxes, assembled the models and have an
