There were also four former world champions, with Robbert van den Bosch from the Netherlands edging out Randy Bridge from the United States for the individual win. Bram Lentjes from Belgium was third. Robbert also set a new world record of 54.97 seconds in the process, but unfortunately crashed his model in the last round %u2013 adding to the drama of the event. The United States won the F3D team competition followed by impressive performances from Guatemala and the Czech Republic.For my part, my new models performed well and I was able to adapt to the changing weather conditions. I improved my results throughout the competition and posted scores in 12 of the 13 rounds, had no %u201ccuts%u201d and had no damage. I finished 23rd overall, which I was happy with considering the challenges associated with racing on the opposite side of the globe and as an individual entry with limited time to prepare.The F3E class was dominated by pilots from the Netherlands, with Joris Cr%u00e8vecoeur, Mark de Groot and Tjarko van Empel filling the first three places. Joris also set a new world record of 54.32 seconds. Unsurprisingly, the F3E team competition was won by the Netherlands, followed by the United States and the Czech Republic.I have now represented New Zealand in seven F3D pylon world championship events since 2009 and this was certainly the most memorable. It was extremely well organized and the venue was the best that I have seen for any pylon racing.
