Soaring

Radio Controlled Soaring is the art of flying Radio controlled sailplanes and keeping them aloft for as long as possible in thermals, the rising air on hillsides or via dynamic soaring. It is a fun and challenging game to find the best rising air. We fly for fun or in competitions. Some of our fliers are amongst the worlds best competing in international competitions.
Sailplanes can be launched by hand, electric motor or winch, by being towed aloft by a powered model aircraft, or launched from a hillside. Then it’s up to the pilot to find rising air to extend the flight.
Our very own Joe Wurts gets a writeup on the FAI website.
