MFNZ has over two hundred and fifty Wings Examiners and Instructors located around New Zealand are appointed by clubs and registered with MFNZ.

Examiners are qualified to conduct the Initial Wings flight test and also a Wings Renewal Flight Test as required by CAA.  To qualify as an examiner you must first be nominated by your club, then watch a short video explaining the Wings program, what’s expected of them as examiners, how to conduct the oral quiz and the flight check parts of the Wings program

To assist Examiners, MFNZ has written an Examiners handbook with guidelines on the Wings Initial and Wings Renewal process.

To assist Instructors MFNZ has developed a guide book based on a Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA) document.  Many thanks to MAAA for allowing MFNZ to use this.  The objective is to prepare MFNZ Instructor’s to deliver a course of training for a Basic Pilot’s Course. The guide covers the knowledge and skills required to be an effective instructor. It is based on being able to deliver the lessons contained in a Basic Pilots Course. The handbook provides a format that supports self-paced learning, focusing on what an instructor needs to know and do to teach a person to fly.
