Membership fees are due on the 1st April each year and must be paid to your club before this date. NEW members joining after 1st October only have to pay half fees, however existing members renewing late, will still need to pay for a full year. If you want more information on joining the MFNZ, membership problems, non-delivery of MFNZ magazine, then please contact the Membership Administrator. For any other questions on Aeromodelling, please contact the club nearest you.
Note that new members must join a MFNZ affiliated club. You do not join the MFNZ directly. You pay your club subscription and your club committee deal with the MFNZ.
Digital Membership Cards
Hopefully you’ve received emails informing you that MFNZ is replacing the physical membership cards with a new digital system. Everyone has now been sent their digital membership card email.
The system to deploy this has required a load of new software to be written to allow the MFNZ database to communicate with the PassKit system… There may be bugs , so if you see anything weird / missing please get in touch.
A huge thanks to Neil Clayton of Shiny White Box for his time and patience in building a code framework for this process and putting up with me stumbling through C#. If you want to see what he has written professionally see www.shinywhitebox.com.
The odd email address.
MFNZ has engaged a third party that sends out the digital cards. They are Passkit ( passkit.com). So if you receive an email for the membership card it’s actually sent by PassKit using an email address no-reply@passkit.io
Missing email for card
If you haven’t got an email for your digital membership card, please email / text me that you need a resend. Include your MFNZ number and email address and I’ll send you a new email.
Qualifications and Roles
There’s been some confusion about this. There’s a second “page” on the digital membership card that details your Wings qualifications and roles. It’s not really that obvious. I’ll talk to Passkit about this.
Android phones
The application used to store the digital membership card on Android is Google Wallet. It is accessed by selecting this icon
The example here is from an Android phone.
Apple iphones
On the Apple iphone,
the application Apple Wallet is used. This comes preinstalled on iphones since iOS6. On the Apple iPhone there are 3 dots on the top right. Tap the dots, which invokes a menu where you select the “Pass Details” option.
Family memberships
I don’t have emails for all family members but where practical I’ll set the email to the Senior family member. I assume that the Senior member can have multiple cards in their Wallet, one for each Family member.
Forwarding the card email.
If the email arrives on an email account not used by the phone, you can forward the email to another account and then install the digital card from that account.
Updating the digital card
One of the beauties of the digital card is that you’ll only need to install it once in your Wallet. Note that if you don’t renew your membership, after 3 months ( 1 July ) the card will be automatically deleted. If this has happened and you renew membership at a later date you’ll get another email with a new version of the digital card.
The PDF version of the membership cards
I’ll be emailing out the PDF version of the membership when any details on your current card change. So if you renew your membership / gain further qualifications etc, you’ll be emailed a new PDF membership card. If you haven’t got an email address with MFNZ, then your PDF card will be sent to your club administrator.
